INTRODUCTION TO BLOGGING

How do we use blogs in academia?

Blogs can be used for anything that involves communicating or distributing knowledge for teaching, learning, research, and pedagogical purposes.  Your blog can be a personal journal, a project collaboration tool, a research portfolio, a guide, a classroom learning tool, or any means of sharing information and communicating on the web. Teachers can also use blogs as a supplementary teaching tool to help their students to understand the content and improve their research and writing skills. Blogs are free and easy to create, and in most cases, they are similar to websites and are available to an unlimited number of students or teachers.

Blogs can perform the following functions:

1. You can easily add links and embed content

2. Have many automated functions (date, archives, etc.)

3. Mobile friendly and can automatically adjust to smartphone size

4. Students can register for your blog and follow you by email each time you post a message

5. Blogs can have their search engines

6. You can make your blog visible either to a limited or unlimited number of visitors.
